Yamo - Time Pie - 51:24 - 1997 |

Yamo is a solo recording from not only one of the founding members of Kraftwerk, but one of the forefathers of Techno music as a whole. This inherent legacy is noticeable in the music within seconds of play. Wolfgang Flur takes the darker, cooler style of Tricky, and merges it with the quirky sense of humor of Yellow Magic Orchestra. This CD is both experimental, as well as rooted in tradition, and is a must for Kraftwerk fans, who will be able to pick out classic sounds embedded in the background of many tracks. What I like so much about artist like this is the purity and fidelity of the sound. Having a predominately digital source, can really produce rich tones.

Yep, this is the one with the "Oh Yeah" song. I never figured these guys would get anywhere outside the gay club circuit, but low and behold they squeaked out one or two hits. Not that I'm discrediting them in any way, but they're a little eccentric. I think this might be my favorite Yello CD. Lush, tropical rhythms abound: not quite tiki, but almost. Actually, there's musical influences from all over the world incorporated into this, which is cool. The mood tends to be a little dark and sultry, with not as much goofiness as usual.
